Windows 10 End of Life: What It Really Means for Your Business
Quicksmart IT • July 22, 2025

Microsoft has officially announced that Windows 10 will reach end of support on October 14, 2025. While that may sound like a distant deadline, the reality is that the time to act is now.

What Happens When Windows 10 Reaches End of Life?

When Microsoft ends support for Windows 10:

  • No more security updates – your devices become vulnerable to malware, ransomware, and zero-day threats.
  • No more technical support – if you run into system problems, you’re on your own.
  • Software compatibility issues – as new apps and business tools evolve; they may stop working on older systems.
  • Compliance risks – if your business handles sensitive data, running an unsupported OS can put you out of step with industry regulations.

The Pitfalls of Doing Nothing

Many businesses put off IT upgrades because of perceived hassle or cost. But delaying the switch can:

  • Expose you to cyber threats – outdated systems are a top target for attackers.
  • Slow down your team – legacy systems can drag performance and productivity.
  • Cost more in the long run – emergency support, downtime, and data recovery far outweigh planned upgrades.

Why Act Now?

Upgrading your systems doesn't have to be disruptive.

We understand that upgrading all devices immediately may not be feasible. To help ease this transition, we will continue to provide support for Windows 10 clients under a support contract until January 1, 2026.

After January 1, 2026, we will no longer offer support for any devices running Windows 10. To maintain system security and receive continued service, we strongly recommend upgrading all affected devices before this date.

Acting now means:

  • Planning upgrades around your business schedule
  • Budgeting ahead, avoiding panic purchases
  • Minimising downtime with a seamless rollout
  • Training staff gradually on new tools like Windows 11
